A trailerable motorsailer that sleeps 6 (4 comfortably). It can sail as a sailboat, or go fast as a power boat. I have had it up to 14 knots (16 MPH). I have spent most of my time with her on the Chesapeake Bay, and have been to destinations like Chesapeake City, Rock Hall, Baltimore, St Michaels, and Annapolis. I had her re-powered for the 2015 season with a 60 HP Evinrude, and added many upgrades for sailing and living on board.
This MacGregor 26 motorsailer comes with a water ballast system that allows for conversion from a powerboat to a ballasted sailboat as well as trailerability. The water ballast empties through a gravity system that is controlled from the helm. This allows the boat to be sailed with a full tank and then motored on plane with the tank emptied.
If you want to sail, you fill the ballast tank, drop the centerboard using the cabin top winch and raise the sails from the cockpit led halyards and sheets.
If you want to motor, you secure the sails, start the motor and use forward momentum to drain the tank which allows you to get up on plane.
Custom cooler installation in galley, upgraded shore power system, steering disconnect for sailing
The unique hull design and E-tec 60 outboard allow for powerboat performance too.
The cockpit is covered by a removable bimini and can seat six adults.
The retractable centerboard and step through transom with integrated swim platform allow for easy boarding and shallow water navigation.
Stepping down below into the cabin, there is a dinette to starboard that converts to sleep 2, a v-berth forward which also sleeps 2.
The aft cabin is full beam which allows you to overnight an additional two sailors.
Additionally, there is an enclosed head with porta potty and sink with overboard drain and pressure cold water.
Overall the cabin has a very open feel.
The vessel is in above average condition. It is complete and ready for launch.
Contains a VHF, MP3/ CD Stereo, and Autopilot.
